Kicked Out Of Nashville
Do you live in Nashville? Let me tell you a quick story.
Last week, I spoke with a friend who is here on a visa from another country as a musician.
His visa was granted for 3 years as part of a band. He could only make money with this band.(again, think about living in Nashville and not being able to do side work of any kind).
At the end of 3 years, he had to go to a panel and request an extension to continue his passion in Nashville. In other words, he had to prove to a group of critical people (not yo’ mama and peeps) what he had done in the last 3 years that was so significant he should stay in this country and continue his work.
Ouch. And, many of his friends who came to Nashville were forced to return home. Double ouch.
Think about what you’ve done in the last 6 months. 1 year. 3 years. Would you be sent home?
I think we all should try to live to this standard. Prove to yourself why you should stay in Nashville. Prove to yourself that you are worth being here among the best musicians, best songwriters, best photographers, best designers, best engineers, best publicists… in the WORLD.
This is not a criticism of Nashville. This is a call to action.
You are here, so what’s your next three years look like?
